PROJECT EXPERIENCE
The staff members of RSC, LLC have participated in many significant projects in the electronic transformation of railroad train control, including the present move to PTC and CBTC systems. This work has been done for North American railroads, transit authorities, industry suppliers, and government agencies, either directly or as part of an engineering team. Staff members have also completed safety programs for several international projects, evaluating rail products that aim to meet several differing standards in different parts of the world.
WORK FOR US RAILROADS PTC Quantitative Risk Assessment per FRA Rule. PTC Safety Program Management. PTC System Safety Assessment – Wayside, Carborne, Highway Crossing, Communications. Independent Safety Assessor for various types of train control systems.
WORK FOR RAIL TRANSIT AUTHORITIES CBTC System Independent Safety Assessor (for 2 properties). Evaluation of subway Speed Control System. Safety analysis of overspeed protection system. Safety analysis for rail transit on-board and wayside signaling and train control equipment. Support for train control safety testing and commissioning.
WORK FOR SIGNAL/ PTC EQUIPMENT SUPPLIERS Evaluation of products for safety and/or reliability, including switch machines, solid-state relays, Safety Assessment of several interlocking controllers, from concept to design to application. Evaluation of US standards compliance for CENELEC-based designs. Safety Case development for PTC system. RAMS support for supplier of ATC for light rail.
WORK FOR GOVERNMENT AGENCIES Triennial State safety oversight work per FTA rules. Support to FRA Rulemaking through RSAC WG (volunteer) participation. Safety Audit for an Automated People Mover system for an Airport Authority. Design and safety evaluation of interface between ITS system and railroad crossing controllers. Safety analysis training programs for Federal employees. |
